Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a football agent in north London last month.
The incident reportedly occurred on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police arrested a 31-year-old man two days later on suspicion of firearm possession with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, and driving without a licence.
The suspect, who has been released on bail, is not believed to be Udogie’s agent. No one was injured in the incident.
Tottenham released a statement saying: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
Despite the ordeal, Udogie returned to action a week later in Spurs’ league win over West Ham and started in Tuesday’s Champions League match against FC Copenhagen.
