Tottenham Not Close to £100m Signings Like Arsenal, Says Thomas Frank

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank has said the club is not close to spending £100m on a single player, unlike rivals Arsenal.

Following major leadership changes at Spurs, including the departure of Daniel Levy and the arrival of a new executive team, the club is aiming to grow both on and off the pitch. However, Frank admitted Spurs are still some way from matching Arsenal’s willingness to make blockbuster signings, such as the £105m deal for Declan Rice in 2023. Tottenham’s current record signing remains Richarlison at £60m.

Frank said he does not believe Spurs are close to breaking the £100m barrier, stressing the importance of time, strong processes and smart investment rather than reckless spending. He added that while investment is essential for success, it must be done wisely to avoid expensive mistakes.

He also argued that heavy spending alone is not the only route to the top, pointing to Liverpool and Manchester City as teams that developed players rather than relying solely on huge transfer fees. Frank said Tottenham’s focus is on improving the players they already have while investing in younger talent with long-term potential.

Tottenham recently received £100m in funding from the Lewis family, with further financial support expected. Frank said he is confident the board is committed to long-term success and will back him to build a competitive team.
