Ruben Amorim criticised his Manchester United side for becoming complacent after they let victory slip away in a 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
United led for much of the match thanks to Bryan Mbeumo’s first-half strike but were undone by quickfire goals from Mathys Tel and Richarlison before Matthijs de Ligt’s 96th-minute header salvaged a point.
Despite extending their unbeaten run to five games, Amorim was unhappy with his team’s mentality.
“We have a lot of problems — we are just at the beginning,” he said. “We were comfortable in the game but we should do better, be more aggressive. The three points were there for the taking. I think we felt too comfortable, and one play changed the mood of the stadium.”
There was also concern over a possible knee injury to Benjamin Šeško, who came on as a substitute.
Spurs boss Thomas Frank defended his own substitutions after fans questioned his decision to replace Xavi Simons with Tel, who went on to score the equaliser. “Every time I make a change it’s to try to win the game,” Frank said.
Despite their ongoing home struggles — Spurs haven’t won at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since August — Frank insisted the team is “moving in the right direction” after their spirited comeback.
