Juventus sack Igor Tudor after eight-game winless streak

Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-match winless run across all competitions, the club confirmed on Monday.

“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” read a club statement issued a day after their 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Reserve team boss Massimo Brambilla will serve as interim manager.

Tudor, who took over from Thiago Motta in March, was the club’s first foreign manager since Didier Deschamps in 2006–07. A former Juventus defender, he spent nearly a decade at the club as a player, winning two Serie A titles and reaching a Champions League final.

Despite leading Juve to a fourth-place finish last season and Champions League qualification, results have nosedived this term. After winning their opening three league games, the team drew five straight before suffering three consecutive defeats to Como, Real Madrid, and Lazio.

Tudor admitted after Sunday’s loss that the side was “missing something” but urged calm, saying, “We’re all responsible for this difficult period.”

The sacking marks the first time since 1969 that Juventus have replaced a manager before November. The club, currently eighth in Serie A and goalless in their last four matches, will face Udinese on Wednesday.
