Manchester City delivered a commanding 3-0 win over Manchester United at the Etihad, reinforcing their title ambitions and extending their lead at the top of the Women’s Super League to four points. Goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp sealed a dominant performance for Andrée Jeglertz’s side, who outclassed a fatigued United throughout a blistering first half.

United, dealing with the strain of balancing domestic and European fixtures, looked drained after their historic win over PSG. Marc Skinner’s team suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time since May 2024, leaving them seven points off the pace. Skinner admitted reinforcements are needed but insisted the title race isn’t over.

City, meanwhile, looked fresh and ruthless. Hemp returned to the starting XI and immediately caused havoc down the left, repeatedly beating United’s defence. The breakthrough came when Shaw headed a corner across goal for Knaak to finish. Shaw then bundled in a second after a sweeping move, before Hemp smashed home a third following a turnover in possession.

United offered little in response. Despite introducing Melvine Malard in the second half, they failed to register a shot on target. Jess Park hit the post, but City remained in control and could have scored more.

With statement wins over Arsenal and United already this season, City look firmly in charge of the title race after nine matches.
